7TH YEAR OF THE OCCUPATION IN IRAQ AND FACTS
News1Mustafa TOMBULOGLU
(Yorturk Cultural and Art Magazine March/April 2010)

In the 7th year of the occupation, basic facts and figures on the war are a total shame for the history of humanity. The US brutality in Iraq will be remembered once again on March 20, 2010. On this day people will talk about the fact that the blood freezing realities are much bitter than those served by the US media. The most important outcome of this war has sadly been the reconfirmation of the “strong owns the right” principle.

FORTHCOMING ELECTIONS IN IRAQ AND THE ELECTION IRREGULARITIES OF THE KURDS
News1Iraqi Parliament decided to hold general elections on March 7th, 2010 after prolonged discussions. The biggest difficulty during the adoption of the law concerned the system that will be applied in Kirkuk. Turkmens and Arabs that constitute the main elements of Kirkuk demanded distinct regulations for Kirkuk. Because, the demographic structure of the province has changed since 2003 as a result of Kurds' practices. The approved law included the statement that "a commission which will be formed for Kirkuk within the Parliament after the elections will examine electoral rolls and the election results that will be obtained in Kirkuk will not affect the future status of the province". This clause constitutes a legal acceptance that the demographic structure of Kirkuk has been unfairly changed in favor of Kurds.

THE TURKS OF SOUTHERN AZERBAIJAN AND THE WORLD MOTHER TONGUE DAY
News1Southern Azerbaijani Turks in Iran are celebrating February 21 as "The World Mother Tongue Day" so as to advocate their ethnic and cultural rights. As is known, by means of UNESCO, the UN has declared 2008 as the "World Mother Tongue Year" so as to underline the right to use the mother tongue. 30 million Azerbaijani Turks express their demands for education in their mother tongue in this significant day because education in one's mother tongue is an indispensable right. Following the Islamic Revolution of Iran in 1979, Southern Azerbaijanis have been forced to receive education in Farsi, in violation of the articles 15 and 19 of the Iranian Constitution. The word "Turk" has almost become a nightmare for the Azerbaijani youth. Educators and certain circles of the society have the responsibility to publicize this issue to the world public opinion.

US' ADVISER FOR KURDS BENEFITS FROM OIL REVENUES

In the article titled “US' Adviser for Kurds Benefits from Oil Revenues”, it is stated that the mentioned individual, known to be acting as an adviser for Kurds and maintaining connections with the Norwegian oil company, had made hundreds of millions of dollars. Journalists had revealed that Galbraith was a secret partner of the Norwegian oil company DNO, which runs the Tawke oil field in Dohuk. The Kurdish authorities expressed that they had been informed about the relations of Galbraith with DNO and they still regarded him as a friend of Kurds.

UPCOMING ELECTIONS IN IRAQ AND THE KIRKUK EQUATION…
News1Mustafa TOMBULOGLU
(Yorturk Cultural and Art Magazine November/December)

The US is envisaged to withdraw gradually from Iraq until 2011. According to the plans, 70 thousand of the 120 thousand American troops will be withdrawn from Iraq until the end of August 2010 and the rest at the end of 2011. The Iraqi National Parliament approved the New Election Law on November 08. Accordingly, general elections are scheduled for January 18, 2010. However, the results of general elections may shape the withdrawal plans of the US because having failed in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US does not want to leave the control of the region to Iran. The US will remain in the region by means of its military bases. The main objective is to maintain its political presence effectively.
