 SUSPICIOUS ISRAELI PRESENCE IN IRAQ
News1The activities of the Israeli secret service MOSSAD in Northern Iraq were revealed in a report prepared by former Israeli Security Minister Afri Dihter. The daily Yekgirtu published in Irbil wrote that Israel intervened in the internal affairs of Iraq through its Kurdish political parties. Dihter expressed that “Israel was able to get more than it wanted with the US intervention in Iraq in 2003” and said “We must leave Iraq in a state of disintegration and within an environment of war and conflict, as the Israeli interests lie there”. Moreover, the Israeli Minister stated that “Israel would seize the Kirkuk oil through the Kurdish political parties”. The mentioned newspaper also covered the relations of “Korek TV” and “Channel-4 TV”, broadcasting in Northern Iraq, with the Israeli secret service.

In a report of MOSSAD of 2004, which was covered by the press, it was suggested that hundreds of agents were operating in most of Iraq, mainly in Northern Iraq. The report indicated that MOSSAD agents had trained and used Kurds in the attacks and provoked them against the Iraqi people, particularly the insurgents. It is a well-known fact that former Israeli officers are sent to Northern Iraq through commercial companies. Besides its headquarters in Irbil, MOSSAD has also offices in Dohuk, Mosul and Suleymaniyah. MOSSAD agents also purchased properties and lands at high prices in the delicate regions of Baghdad in order to penetrate into Iraq. According to the French daily Le Monde, the aim of the Israeli agents is to monitor the activities of the Iranian secret service and the nuclear program of Tehran. Experts note that MOSSAD has established many spying and tapping stations along the border regions of Iraq and Iran.

There are also claims that Israel has the intention of disturbing the Arabian integrity in the region and occupying them with the Shiite Iranian threat. What’s more, it is believed that the same elements were behind the bomb attack perpetrated on the Al Askariya Shrine in Samara in 2006. Meanwhile, Ali Bapir, Secretary General of the Iraqi Kurdistan Islamic Community, is one of the individuals who expressed his unrest due to the Missionary activities carried out by MOSSAD in Northern Iraq. As a matter of fact, the “ADS Institution”, which is an Evangelist missionary establishment, distributes Bible in Kurdish in the region. In addition, the non-governmental organization called VOGA, which has representations in Kirkuk/Arafa, Irbil and Suleymaniyah, is known by its research into the historical process in the regions where Jews used to live in the past.
